I love camping. Some of the best sleep I have ever had is under the stars. I love the sound of nature, and feel a certain comfort when the campfire is flickering…lulling you to sleep. It smells like forest, the air is clear and warm – nothing is quite as natural and beautiful and serene.
I love cooking over a fire too. I don’t use a stove… don’t like it. I like making the fire. I like the smell, the sound of crackling wood and the natural heat… it tastes the best!
After dinner and before you hit the sack, gather round for a little treat that will take the place of s’mores (ok, well… not completely but it’s an alternative) and make up a chocolate fondue. It’s easy, and you can melt it over the campfire.
Come join me…
It’s getting DARK Campfire Chocolate FONDUE
Warm some sweetened or unsweetened coconut milk or use coconut oil (1 tablespoon to 2 cups of dark chocolate – use a little more OIL if too thick) USE A DOUBLE BOILER for best results – stack a couple camp pots and you’re ready to go.
Select your chocolate – use a whole bar of good quality dark (70% or higher) chocolate.
Stir til creamy and smooth.
GAZE at stars that are coming out now… smile!
I like to put essential oils in everything and chocolate is no exception. Add some oils to your campout to seriously turn down stress hormones and increase JOY!
Dark Chocolate blends well with essential oils including vanilla, peppermint, rose, cinnamon, nutmeg, tuberose, tangerine, wild orange, and bergamot. Add the essential oil of your choice once the chocolate has cooled off a little…don’t add it to the mixture in the double boiler while you’re making the chocolate.
Make sure fondue pot is on low temperature.
Dip all kinds of fun fruit in and enjoy dessert under the stars.
