Protein Pick-Up Power Smoothie

Summer Days mean more activity outdoors. Pack some serious protein into your day with this energizing smoothie and go play!

1 scoop Vegetarian/Vegan protein powder such as VEGA or Vega-Sport, Kaizen or Greens Plus Brand
(your flavor choice)
1 cup coconut water or plain water
1 tablespoon almond, peanut or nut butter of choice
1 tablespoon pure dark cocoa powder or cacao nibs*
(Optional for chocolate lovers)
1 teaspoon of chia seeds or hemp hearts
1 cup frozen blueberries or berries of choice (use 1 kind)
1 handful baby spinach, or baby spring greens/kale blend*
(Greens are optional if you choose)
1/2 cup plain, greek/plain yogurt
1 tablespoon cooked quinoa or steel cut oats
1 tablespoon coconut oil

-(SKIP the banana for those wanting to shed some pounds)
-Keep it lean by using NO-FAT yogurt
-Use one kind of fruit – or you’re just making a milkshake!

Blend in blender and enjoy 1-2 hours before a workout or 1 hour after. Store in a glass mason jar filled to brim and lid tight to prevent excessive oxidization. Keep chilled. Can be used as a meal replacement as this is very filling. This is not a detox smoothie, but very nourishing before and after exercise.
