Swim Season has begun for my daughter and she is excited for a new year ahead. It’s also the time of year for catching a little cold or flu, so POWER up their SPORTS this Fall with some extra VITAMIN C. Fortunately, the season’s bounty is full of vitamin C with brightly coloured fruits and vegetables abundant in our harvests. Kids, teens and even us bigger players need extra Vitamin C in cooler months and it also helps to restore our energy and REDUCE TOXINS after exercise. As a swimmer, my girl is in chlorine 5 times a week, so I reduce the possible toxicity with some EXTRA Vitamin C and throw in a little seaweed too… mermaids must be nourished!

Some tips to reduce chlorine exposure inside and out:
VITAMIN C!!! So vital for your metabolism and your immunity: Vitamin C helps to neutralize chlorine. Both Ascorbic Acid and Sodium Ascorbate (2 forms of Vitamin C) are very beneficial for helping to repair the inside of the body due to chlorine exposure. It naturally neutralizes chlorine and taking a 1000 mg a day supplement (up to 2000 mg if necessary) in divided doses – the the daytime, WITH FOOD, is the best way.
NUTRITION: Choose vitamin C rich foods as well, such as berries, citrus, veggies, bright coloured fruits and veggies to get your C levels up nice and high to help reduce chlorine toxicity. Think of the RAINBOW of coloured foods here.
VITAMIN C BODY SPRAY: Mix Powdered Ascorbic Acid or Sodium Ascorbate (from a quality health food store or supplier) with either distilled water or fractionated (liquid coconut oil and apply liberally). Mix in a small glass water bottle and use within a day or 2…

ESSENTIAL OILS: Lavender, Frankincense and Peppermint mix well with fractionated coconut oil to make a nice spray that smells great and works as a barrier for the skin.
HYDRATE! Mix a 1000 mg Vitamin C powder (such as Emergen-C or Ener-C) into your water and get a good dose of Vitamin C to help neutralize chlorine.
MAKE IT MORE EFFECTIVE: Add some D-Drops. Vitamin D helps to neutralize the effects of chlorinated water as well.
